Explore Monroe County’s History - One Marker at a Time! Note: The QR codes for the Dutch Settlers, Smithfield Church and Fort Hyndshaw markers have been removed by the Park Service. To check in at these locations you can take a selfie there and send it to 570-534-4405. Thank you for understanding! Also, the Fort Hyndshaw Marker is down for repair, and the Park Service does not allow alternate temporary signs, so you will only find a blue pole, until the refurbished marker is returned. Sorry for the inconvenience. Get ready to unlock the past and win big with the Monroe County Historic Markers Trail Passport! This isn’t just a walk through history. This is an adventure across 18 iconic historical markers that tell the story of our community, heroes, milestones, and unforgettable moments. Visit at least 12 sites to earn a personalized Certificate of Completion celebrating your journey through local history. Those who complete 12 stops - including the Sullivan’s March marker at Brinker’s Mill - will also receive a print of the 1975 painting by Frederick Beaver. Another way of checking in is to go to the Bushkill Meeting Center National Park Service- 6414 Milford Rd, East Stroudsburg, PA 18302 and scan in the locations you went to. Discover Monroe County’s historically and architecturally significant buildings with the National Historic Registry Trail Passport! This isn’t just a tour—it’s a journey across 16 preserved structures, from stately homes to industrial mills, that document the county’s development, local history, and architectural heritage. All the buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. National Register of Historic Places (U.S. National Park Service) Visit at least 10 locations to receive a t-shirt and a personalized Certificate of Completion to recognize your exploration of Monroe County’s historic landmarks.

As part of the America250PA initiative, this unique county-wide adventure invites you to discover the beautifully painted Keystone displays located throughout Monroe County’s municipalities. Inspired by Pennsylvania’s nickname, the “Keystone State,” each Keystone showcases artwork that reflects the local history, culture, landmarks, and community pride of the town or borough it represents. Travel across Monroe County, explore the stories behind each community, and scan the QR code at the Keystone locations to track your progress. With Keystone installations located throughout the county, there are plenty of opportunities to discover new places while celebrating the people and traditions that make Monroe County unique. Visit and scan the QR code at at least 12 Keystone locations to earn a personalized Certificate of Completion recognizing your journey through Monroe County and your participation in this special America250PA experience
